Future Capability Officer Canadian Forces Joint Imagery Centre
Maj Turk joined the Canadian Armed Forces in June 1998 and led technicians repairing CF-188 Hornet components in 2004 as an Aerospace Engineer. In 2006 he was selected to undertake post-graduate education and graduated with a Masters of Science in Imaging Science in remote sensing from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 2008. For the next three years he worked in the Canadian Forces Joint Imagery Centre (CFJIC) as an Advanced Exploitation Officer, using his specialized expertise to help analysts answer their most technically difficult intelligence questions with the full range of resources available, including writing bespoke software. In 2011 Maj Turk was selected to become the sole liaison officer to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s Acquisition (now IT Services) directorate. For the next five years he operated at the forefront of geospatial intelligence technology, managing acquisition planning, project management, and in-service support of a variety of large and small systems. During 2012-2014 he gained a Masters of Science in Systems Engineering from the George Washington University (GWU). In 2016 he returned to his current role in CFJIC where he is working to develop and align Canada’s future geospatial intelligence systems, including people, processes, and technology.
