After a career in Local Government as the Council lead on Emergency Planning, assistant tactical lead on response and recovery and responsible for Business Continuity, pollution control and environmental assessment. I was COMAH lead in the Tyne and Wear EPU (a partnership between Tyne and Wear Local Authorities and the Fire and Rescue Authority). On the dissolution of the EPU I took up a post inTyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and work with an Industrial accident focus but including input into Major Incident, Interoperability, Mobilisation and Tactical Planning for the service. I have been responsible for design and managing information flow and command and control arrangements in a national multi-day live exercise involving Military land and air assets as well as emergency services and local authorities. I am vice-chair of the ResilienceDirect North East Regional Group and sit on the National Fire Group.
