Mr. Andy Hayden became the Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence College (NGC) in the Human Development (HD) Directorate, National Geospatial-intelligence Agency (NGA) on 14 March 2021 (Pi Day) after nearly two years in the deputy position. He ensures NGC resources align with the NGA’s Strategic Vision and GEOINT Enterprise needs—today and future. He oversees the provision of tradecraft instruction, professional development training, and GEOINT Professional Certification. He guides efforts to modernize NGC services in coordination with key stakeholders, and in concert with broader HD, NGA, and Community initiatives. (U) Prior to joining the College leadership team, Mr. Hayden served in numerous positions within the Analysis Directorate. As the Deputy Director for Intelligence, Analysis Operations, he advised Analysis and Agency leadership on GEOINT contributions to critical issues and ensured analytic resources aligned with the national priorities. Andy led the Time-Dominant Operations Center (TDOC), focused on national-level, world-wide indications and warning issues and high current interest topics. As the Deputy of the Office of Targeting and Transnational Issues, he oversaw the cyber, underground facilities, C4I, energy, economics, transportation infrastructure, environmental security, and targeting mission sets. As Division Chief, Integrated Work Group-Iran, he established and led an effort to focus and improve GEOINT on Iran through innovative organizational and tradecraft initiatives. While in the Office of Counterterrorism he provided support to special forces' and clandestine mission partners’ operations, which included a deployment to Afghanistan. (U) Mr. Hayden started his career at the National Photographic Intelligence Center in 1985 as an imagery analyst. He worked the Soviet Navy, denial and deception practices, and Iran accounts— while participating in crises such as Desert Storm and the Balkans. Amidst assignments doing actual imagery analysis, Mr. Hayden was an instructor at NGC and handled international agreements while in the Office of Imagery Policy. He also served as the NGA representative to the National Intelligence Council and on the DCI's Strategic Warning Committee from 2001-2003. (U) Mr. Hayden graduated with honors from James Madison University in 1985, earning Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Science. He has been recognized with the Meritorious Presidential Rank Award, the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, the Joint Civil Service Commendation for Operation Enduring Freedom, the Global War on Terrorism Award, and numerous Meritorious Unit Citations. He is married with three boys and cheers for the Green Bay Packers despite no familial connection to Wisconsin whatsoever.
