Colonel António Sousa Franco

Lieutenant Colonel António Franco, is currently the Expert for space affairs in the Portuguese Armed Forces General Staff and the Defence Liaison Officer in the Portuguese Space Agency. He has a degree in Military Sciences from the Military Academy in Lisbon and a Master in Geospatial Engineering from the University of Lisbon. He was assigned for about 10 years to the Army Geospatial Information Centre, where he was responsible for the Data Acquisition and for the Remote Sensing section where he implemented methods for Geospatial data acquisition and cartographic production to support the missions of the Armed Forces. He has several trainings in the area of IMINT, having been responsible for the IMINT course taught by the Portuguese Army. He was also responsible for the implementation of the process of using RPAS to acquire geographic information to support military operations.
