Derek Fleck

Derek Fleck is based in Fairfax, Virginia and currently serves as the Director for Business Development (Defense and Intelligence) for Aireon LLC. In this role he is responsible for developing and executing the growth strategy for Aireon in the National Security sector and maintaining relationships with industry partners and end customers that seek to leverage global real-time air domain awareness.

Prior to arriving at Aireon he served in the United States Navy for nearly 27 years. A career Naval Aviator, Derek lead several operational commands; provided advisory services to senior executives regarding defense acquisition, budgeting and requirements decisions; and finished his career at the National Reconnaissance Office guiding program managers, system engineers, and operators that provided unique technical solutions for difficult intelligence problems. He is also a graduate of the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons and Tactics School and a recognized space systems expert as a former member of the Naval Space Cadre.

Derek graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and earned his commission through the Naval ROTC program. He received a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from George Washington University while serving as Naval Legislative Liaison Officer. Derek also earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School at National Defense University, and completed a certificate in Business Analytics through the Kellogg Executive Education program.
