Doctor in Political Sciences, international relations, Giorgio Cioni graduated with full marks and laude. He also obtained a master’s degree in Administration and a further master’s degree in European law.
Currently, Giorgio Cioni serves as Director of Armament and Aerospace Capabilities of the Defence Investment Division of the NATO International Staff, with a large portfolio covering policy development, capability development and oversight in the areas of Integrated Air and Missile Defence, Aviation, Joint Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (JISR), NATO Security Investment Programmes, as well as multinational cooperation on air, land and maritime capability projects, conducted in the NATO context.
He carries out NATO-wide coordination as JISR Capability Area Manager and, as Chairman of NATO Aviation Committee, he acts as NATO’s primary interface with international civil aviation organisations, European and American aerospace institutions and other relevant regional and global bodies.
Born in Rome, Italy, Dr. Cioni has a distinguished record of service in the Italian MOD and in NATO focused on international relations, political-military security policies, aerospace capabilities and aviation.
