Mayur Gosai, PhD, is the director of Intelligence, Research, Education and Solutions lab (iRES), he is also the co-director of Geospatial Science and Space Center (GSSC), and research faculty in the Office of Research and Engagement’s Caracristi Institute at the National Intelligence University (NIU). Mayur previously served as the Arthur C. Lundahl Chair of Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) at NIU from 2018-2024, where he oversaw and expanded the university’s GEOINT curriculum, advised and mentored numerous master’s students, and conducted research on contemporary issues in GEOINT and science and technology topics within the context of U.S. national security and intelligence. His research at iRES and GSSC focuses on assessing commercial Unmanned Aerial Systems capabilities and vulnerabilities, GeoAI implications in sentiment analysis and mapping, identifying and mitigating bias in spatiotemporal data, and identifying and evaluating emerging technologies in quantum sensing for Position, Navigation, and Timing applications. In collaboration with industry and academia partners he has published and presented his research at NATO, FVEY, and academic and trade conferences in the U.S. and abroad. Mayur was a fellow of Downing College at the University of Cambridge, U.K., completing a visiting scholar program in 2016, where he participated in departmental seminars and held workshops on the effects of globalization and migration issues in Asia. He published his research with colleagues, outlining novel methodologies to calculate large migration flows and patterns, in a book titled “Internal Migration in the Countries of Asia”. Prior to joining NIU he held senior analyst positions in the Department of Defense serving in assignments with U.S. Africa Command, Joint Intelligence Operations Center in Afghanistan, and Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa. Mayur has worked various national security topics across the Middle East and Africa, where he authored numerous finished intelligence products and provided briefings to senior U.S. policymakers, members of the diplomatic community, and military officers. Prior to joining the Department of Defense, he was a research geographer at the U.S. Geological Survey where he conducted spatial modeling and volumetric studies on a carbon capture and storage research.
