Shawn B. Stith has served as Chair of the NATO Advisory Committee on GEOINT and IMINT (NACGI) since June 2023.
The NACGI is the primary advisory and coordinating body for the comprehensive management of GEOINT and IMINT capabilities across NATO. It advances capability development, improves integration, facilitates contributions to the NATO enterprise, and enables federated production activities. The NACGI also advises senior NATO leaders on the full range of GEOINT and IMINT issues.
Prior to this assignment, Mr. Stith led integration efforts across the numerous organizations of the U.S. GEOINT enterprise as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA’s) Director of GEOINT Functional Management. Other NGA leadership assignments included service with U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), with Expeditionary Operations, and several assignments within Financial Management.
During a three-year assignment with NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, Mr. Stith led efforts to develop the Afghan Ministry of Interior (MOI) and the operational forces of the Afghan National Police (ANP). Orchestration of training initiatives, integration of donor contributions, development of institutional processes, and international senior leader engagements were key elements of the assignment.
Prior to joining NGA’s civilian workforce in 2004, Mr. Stith served a career in the U.S. Marine Corps.
